Hump Day

I had no idea what Hump Day was until a few years ago.
I heard the term being bandied about, and frankly
I was flabbergasted to hear such a thing.
"Oh, that's what you mean.  WEDNESDAY.  Thank goodness"

I've been mulling over whether to talk to the people upstairs or not
about their noise level.
It's mostly just footsteps, but sometimes they sound like elephants!
Sometimes they sound like they're bowling.
Sometimes I can hear furniture
being dragged across the hardwood floor.
It doesn't disrupt my sleep or anything,
but during my awake time
it can be annoying.

Well, last night I was home
sitting in my office
and I could hear footsteps, voices,
what have you...
Then I heard the grunting,
a creaking floor,
maybe a bed -
and then BAM!
Something got knocked over,
and the only thing I could do was LAUGH REALLY LOUD.
I hope they heard me,
and I hope they were embarrassed.
It was HUMP DAY in every sense of the phrase.

A bit later, I went to bed
and wanted to listen to some music.
In the background, I could hear the distant
thump thump thump
of some bad electronic music
from upstairs.
THUMP THUMP THUMP DOO DOO THUMP THUMP THUMP
Normally I wouldn't care, but it was midnight.
I verified it was coming from upstairs
so I went up and knocked on the door.
They were clearly doing some partying
to celebrate HUMP DAY.

It was opened by some skinny little nerd twerp.
"Alright, you go nerd guy," I thought.
So I say:
"Um, hey, I live downstairs and am going to slee..."
"The music?"
"Yeaaaa, maybe"
"Sorry, man, we'll just turn it off"
"Oh, just maybe down a smidge..."
"No biggie"
"Thaaanks"

Then I went back to sleep
and turned on MY music.
