Today I rode down with Kate, Rollie, Addie, and Roadie to the Wooden Shoe Tulip festival... to look at the tulips. The tulips were nice, very colorful, though I preferred the Hazelnut trees. Hazelnut trees? Yes, Hazelnut Trees. There were definitely a lot of people, but it wasn't too ridiculous. I think we got there right in the nick of time. They also had some old wood-burning steam tractors on display there... from Mansfield, OH of all places. That's not all that far from where I grew up, maybe an hour North. Here are some pictures:
On the way home, we stopped at the outlet mall. I bought some new pants. I really needed some new pants for work because I'm starting to get pretty skinny, and my current ones make me look MC Hammer. And this all happened at the Banana Republic. I've never bought a single thing at Banana Republic ever in my life. No joke. On one hand, I lost a piece of my soul, but on the other hand, I FOUND SOME PANTS THAT I LIKE. They have probably more pants in that place than any store I've ever been in.
I would like to also add that this is a really big fucking state. It takes almost 2 hours to drive out to the coast from here. It took just a little over two hours to drive across the state to Lake Michigan from Ann Arbor. I'm just saying, Portland is not even close to being a centrally located Oregon city. The thing is... if you don't properly assess how far are really going when you head somewhere, that could end up costing you a lot of money. I need to make sure I adjust because I plan on spending a considerable amount of time at the ocean this summer.
