St. Johns Day/Bizarre

I pretty much spend the entirety of Saturday in St. Johns for their block party/parade/etc.  I got there just in time for the parade.  I immediately saw a doughnut shop, and scarfed down a "nut knot".  It was quite tasty... covered in almonds, shaped like a pretzel, and very lite.  Once the parade concluded, I wandered through the booths, and ended up buying perhaps the most awesome shirt ever - the likeness of Edward James Olmos imprinted over Che Guevera, with the logo "So Say We All" printed beneath.  AHHHH!!!!  This is so perfect.  I could not resist.

Then I started going down that familiar slippery slope and headed into the beer garden - hanging out with people... 1 beer, a slice of pizza, 2 beer, 3 beer... Lewi Longmire was steady, unflashy, and southern sounding.  Pierced Arrows are basically Dead Moon with a different drummer.  I didn't recognize any Dead Moon tunes, but I enjoyed them quite a bit.  They definitely had a Detroit freak thing going on.

I then slipped into Slim's to soak up some of whatever that place is about.  I guess it was fine.  Kind of a douchy crowd, probably due to the Bizarre.  I walked out of there, got another slice of pizza, and checked out Explode Into Colors.  They weren't really my thing, and I soon drifted into the neighborhoods of St. Johns, in search of TACOS.  I was frankly just a bit tanked at this point.  After a super long walk and the witnessing of a drug deal going down, I finally got my tacos.

I got back to the town center, when I got a message from a friend who rode her bike down.  We went to the St. John's pub, and I imbibed more.  At this point, I was not the best version of myself and on my way home, I displayed some rather non-exemplary, regrettable behavior.  BAD ME!

I got home in one piece though, and then headed up the street for the Nick Jaina show at the Woods.  On the way there, I stopped and got a chicken cheese steak at the cheese steak joint on Milwaukie.  Oof.  I don't know if I was hungry or not, or if I really needed that... but that thing was huge, and dense.  After a decent opening band, and not so good second band, Nick Jaina was pretty great, and... I think I have a crush on his viola player.  Woo.

I felt like a champ when I got up on Sunday.

Oh, here are the St. Johns photos...
