Beaches

Today was pretty awesome. After sputtering around in the morning, I headed out with S.G. to this place called Swigwam's in St. Pete Beach. It's basically a bar on the beach attached to the rear end of the largest Travel Lodge I've ever seen.

I scoped the place out and headed down. The weather was so amazing. It was quite hot and humid, but there was a nice breeze to balance everything out. This was my first time seeing the Gulf of Mexico in person. It's about time, considering I have a song of the same name. I loaded up on sun screen, and still managed to get some nice burn... and apparently didn't get the inside of my left thigh well enough. Yow! And the water... oh man... it was so warm, I almost felt like I was in a hot spa. I spent 2.5 hours on the beach. That's pretty long for me and now I'm beat.

Then we went back up to the bar to listen to S.G. do his thing. Basically, he's playing a lot of places such as this, as his job, playing covers to make the beach goers happy, and that's not easy. This one young lady was relentless with her Led Zeppelin requests and he honored everyone of them, at least the best his memory would allo. We eventually got to hear some originals. It was nice. The breeze was nice.

Then we had dinner at a place called Crabby Bill's. I went out on a limb and orderd the ahi tuna appetizer with seaweed salad. On the side, I got some hush puppies (w/honey) and some garlic mashe potatoes. Then I finished it off with a glass of milk. My energy was tapped before dinner, after dinner, and still is now. I'm going to bed.

Tomorrow we'll watch "The Horseman". The Hummingbirds have a song in the movie... the closing credits I believe. Then maybe some time at the pool, and off to see the Tampa Bay Rays vs. the Boston Red Sox. Tickets are 6 more dollars just because the Red Sox are playing. Hrrrr.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for real
